Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond?Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Compressor Case & Frame Design Subject Matter Expert. Expertise in the structural design and manufacturing of cast, machined and fabricated major cases. Experience certifying new designs and qualifying new suppliers is required. If you have relevant background or experience in these areas and possess the skills and motivation to bring new ideas into practice, Pratt & Whitney would like to hear from you.Key Responsibilities:

Proactively develop mechanical arrangements that result in products and components that are low cost and competitively superior within program schedule milestones as well as serve as the primary technical resource to case designers across Compression Systems Engineering (CSE).

Perform internal design discipline reviews/audits of all case designs to ensure design robustness and producibility.

Team with the CSE Chiefs to manage the product review process and ensure first time design quality. Preside as a reviewer for all major case part level design reviews and coach, mentor, and train junior practitioners. Collaborate with internal and external customers.

Support development of Engineering Standard Work and Training as well as lead and/or participate on tiger teams to resolve top technical and manufacturing issues. Also, benchmark and maintain awareness of emerging trends in mechanical design processes and product technologies to steer mechanical design and compressor technology strategy .

Utilize TPM, QCPC, RCCA and other CORE tools to continuously improve design processes.

Lead efforts within the Design Technical Discipline Steering team, to develop and manage mechanical design tools, methodology and criteria as well as communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics.

Basic Qualifications:

B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 10+ years of Design engineering experience with a concentration in Static Structure Design, manufacturing of cast, machined and fabricated major cases and frames; OR

Advanced degree with 7+ years of Design engineering experience with a concentration in Static Structure Design, manufacturing of cast, machined and fabricated major cases and frames

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Ability to travel 5%

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering

Broad knowledge of product design processes and overall engine system integration

Ability to craft clear communication and develop meaningful relationships.

Analytical Skills

Highly developed interpersonal, leadership, and teaming skills

CORE Champion or Black Belt six-sigma certification

Proficient in Unigraphics NX, Ansys/NASTRAN, and classical methods of analysis

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
