Description Robert Half, a leading staffing firm, is seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Payroll Assistant for our esteemed client based in New Britain. The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for processing payroll, managing records, and providing timely and accurate financial information. The position will start as a temporary role with the potential to convert to a permanent position based on performance assessment and operational requirements.Responsibilities:
Collect, compile, and enter payroll data using appropriate software.
Process and distribute employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
Manage and calculate taxes and deductions.
Initiate periodical payments timely either by preparing and administering checks or making direct deposits.
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll.
Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to the supervisor.
Answer queries and requirements about payroll information.
Maintain and document all payroll records.
Conduct audits of payroll, benefits, or other HR programs and recommend corrective action.
Assist with the preparation of year-end reports related to W2s and other tax forms.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
Requirements
Proven experience as a payroll assistant or related role.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software.
Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
Thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state payroll and tax laws, rules, and regulations.
Professional handling of sensitive, confidential information.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work accurately and meeting deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
