Basic Overview and Responsibilities:
Report to the Program Director
Develop, plan & run a 7-week aquatics program, including swim lessons, recreational swim, and lakefront activities
Promote safety as a top priority for all aquatics activities
Maintain State and ACA regulations and requirements for all waterfront activities
Supervise the aquatics team, including the Head of Lake and Head of Pool
Oversee the education of camp staff in regards to responsibilities and expectations at the pool/lake during staff week and throughout the summer
Evaluate and provide honest feedback to team members to promote growth and development
Create a schedule for all aquatics staff
Maintain open communication between the Program Director and Aquatics team for scheduling and programming needs
Work with Program Director on special events
Evaluate aquatic abilities of campers
Oversee camper records on all campers
Promote camper development through teaching, technique building and repetition
Award recognition and participation certificates to campers, when earned
Area set up including lake and pool prior to staff arrival
Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for safety
Conduct daily check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair. Make (or file for) necessary repairs when needed
Teach and monitor the proper use of all equipment
Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring timely arrival of materials
Assist in packing all materials and supplies at end of season
Build a strong relationship with campers and counselors
Evaluate current season and make suggestions for following season
Practice and promote Laurelwoods goals and mission
Other:
Participate in Staff Development Weeks (June 10-June 22)
Attend required supervisory, divisional, and all-camp meetings (including Spring pre-camp meetings)
Participate in meetings as scheduled by supervisors
Adhere to the staff manual
Attend all-camp wide activities
Completes other duties as assigned by program director, assistant director, and director
Education/experience:
At least one season of experience in managing waterfront activities
Water Safety Instructor (WSI)certification
Current Lifeguard Training and Waterfront Lifeguard Training certifications
Canoeing and small craft instructor certification
Current swim Instructor certification
Must be at least age 21 by the first day of camp
Leadership and camp counselor experience
Camp Experience preferred

Schedule:
Seasonal: June - August (living at camp is preferred)
Sunday - Saturday with one scheduled day off each week
Assist with opening the pool in May, and closing it down in September / October
Provide assistance with aquatics needs throughout the Spring and Fall retreat season
In addition to aquatics hours, the Aquatics Director will be On Duty one or two evenings each week from 9:30pm to 12:30 or 1:00am
