Respite Center Supervisor The Benhaven Respite Center supports youth ages 8 – 22 who are enrolled in the Behavioral Support Program (BSP) overseen by the Children’s Service Division (CSD) at the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Our respite center is designed to provide planned respite to families to allow time to reenergize, focus on other family members, engage in personal, social, or routine activities and tasks that may otherwise be postponed or curtailed due to the responsibilities of caring for their family member. The Benhaven Respite Center is open Fridays at 1pm – Monday morning at 11am and is able to support up to 4 youth at a time. The youth attending the respite center will enjoy a fun filled weekend of activities and events designed for them and the interests of the grouping for the weekend. Our DSP’s are specifically trained to work with youth who have been enrolled in the BSP through DDS. Part of our team is a masters level clinician who will provide behavioral oversight and training to staff regarding youth specific behavior programs to ensure the safety and support of our respite guests. The focus of each weekend is to ensure our respite guest are enjoying their stay by:participating in community activities,making new friends and maintaining friendships,having fun,doing activities within the group they enjoy,making good choices, andlearning/experiencing new activities.The Respite Center Working Supervisor is a full-time, 30-hour, non-exempt position, consisting of 25 hours of direct service and 5 hours of administrative service. This position reports to the Individual and Family Support Director. Schedule: Friday 1pm – 10pm Saturday 7am -3pm Sunday 9am – 5pm Monday – 5 hours flexible. Pay Rate:$26/hourDuties & Responsibilities:To build rapport with each respite guest and their family to facilitate a safe, enjoyable, and interactive experience while in respite careWorking closely with Clinician and Division Director to understand and implement Behavior Support Plans for the youth that is attending respite for that given weekend.Provide leadership and supervision on shift as neededThe supervisor will be the point person for FamiliesThe supervisor will problem solve concerns with staffProvides ongoing communication to all DSP’s.Ensure all DSPs are properly trained and oriented to meet Respite Center qualifications. Responsible for maintaining up-to-date training records and ensure DSPs remain in good standing.Be an example of how to provide exemplary care and support to the youth we serveDevelop and manage staff schedules to ensure weekend coverage.Develop weekend menu, coordinate grocery shopping for Respite CenterAccountable for overseeing Respite Petty Cash management.Will be responsible for completing guest intakes and discharges.Capability to serve as backup support for clinician for non-clinical work during vacations, time off, or as required to meet program needs.Attend/facilitate weekly staff meetings to learn and be trained on guests for the weekendResponsible for planning meaningful in house and community activities for the respite guests. Group activities might include community trips to museums, movies, fairs, the beach or special community events occurring during the guests' visit. Individual activities might include crafts of interest to the guest, cooking or baking, learning games, computer work, or other activities identified by the individual.Facilitate friendships among respite guestsAll DSP’s will ensure safety for everyone in the environment by being prepared and able to implement crisis interventions to include hands-on physical interventions (PMT) as required.Look for incidental teaching moments that helps the youth build life skills while enjoying leisure/recreational activities.Assist with all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including but not limited to meal prep, bathing, toileting, etc.Ensure all personal items brought to the respite center by guests are maintained and cleanedWork in collaboration with the respite staff to maintain a clean, safe environmentObtain and maintain the required training, certifications, and driver’s license with a clean driving record.Follow Benhaven policy and procedures,..Required to successfully obtain Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Medication Certification and comply with DDS standards to maintain DDS Medication Certification in good standing.May be mandated to maintain appropriate staffing ratios.
