Now Hiring: Landscape Foreman
Elio and Terra Horticultural Services out of Fairfield County, CT is seeking a dedicated and experienced Landscape Foreman. This position involves managing a crew of 2-3 workers to ensure the highest quality of work, being able to communicate with the company owner and crew members, as well as completing the jobs to the owners’ and clients’ satisfaction. The applicant can communicate in English and Spanish, has a valid driver’s license, and 3-5 years of experience planting, pruning, edging, mulching, and general landscape knowledge. Capability and experience of driving a small dump truck and trailer for machines is a plus. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills to listen, understand, and complete projects as a team and keep crew motivated and proactive. The company is searching for a chief assistant.
Job Responsibilities
-Ensure crew dispatches in a timely manner, with proper equipment, tools, and materials.
-Ensure quality is kept up, proper procedures are used, and crew maintains a proper timeline.
-Hands on leader. Expected to perform all landscape installation and maintenance tasks. Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
-Communicate with owner and crew. Communication is key. You are responsible for speaking to the owner and informing the crew quickly either over the phone or in the field. If the crew member tells you something (such as needing a day off). The owner needs to be informed immediately.
-Communication. First line of client contact on site. Be pleasant and nice with clients. Listen to their concerns and provide a proper response. If you are not positive about the response or something is in question. Notify the client that you will speak to the owner and call immediately.
-Ensure paperwork is filled out correctly. All hours and all days are accounted for.
-Ensure tools are properly cared for, stored, and accounted for each day.
-Abide by all company policies and safety practices as well as ensure that all crew members abide by them.
-When asked, secure job supplies from vendors and deliver them to job site.
-Assign tasks to crew members.
-Provide updates to owner on crew performance, job completions, and timeline of daily schedules.
Job Requirements
-Legal authorization to work in the United States.
-Must have 3-5 years of experience in the landscape industry.
-Must have a valid CT Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
-Knowledge of pruning, planting, and all other areas of landscaping.
-Great work ethic and collaborative team player.
-Hardworking, self-motivated, team oriented and able to perform independently without direct supervision.
-Dependability is critical.
-Ability and knowledge of proper operation and care of machinery and equipment.
-Proven ability to lead.
-Ability to keep accurate and organized daily work slips.
-Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and timely.
-Ability to follow direction but also make decisions.
-Ability to perform heavy physical outdoor work in all seasons
Salary
-Start at $25.00 per hour with room to grow depending on knowledge and how well owner, crew members, and new applicant work together.
-Guaranteed minimum 40-hour work weeks with time and half paid overtime.
