Purpose: The Director of Music Ministry works with the Pastor to develop rich worship experiences that engage the congregation in corporate worship and prepare the heart for Gods Word.
Description: Working closely with the pastor, the director will help plan and prepare worship opportunities on Sunday mornings and for special occasions throughout the year. He/She would create a blended worship using hymns as well as newer songs in order to prepare the heart of the listener for the message. The director of music should be able to play the guitar or the keys and be able to lead the congregation in song.
Time Commitment: Sundays from 9:15-11:30am plus special occasion services.
Consideration Process: Please submit your information along with a brief testimony and audio file to the email listed. Qualified applicants will be interviewed the pastor and deacons. Following this, prospective candidates will be asked to attend and lead worship at FBC prior to a final decision.
Pay: $90-$140 weekly.
Qualifications:
Committed Christian and spiritual leader in word and deed.
Comfortable with the theology and vision of First Baptist Church of North Stonington.
Ability to vocalize and confidently lead the congregation in familiar and newly introduced songs
Ability to play the keys or guitar as accompaniment
2+ years of experience in leading a church preferred.
Sound organizational skills and program planning.
Familiarity with a variety of music genres including faith-based Traditional and Contemporary Christian music.
Ability to determine the need or readiness of the congregation during worship
Possess strengths in the areas of motivating others, community-building, and teamwork
Be approachable to congregants and available before and after service for building relationships.
Selecting appropriate music to coordinate with pastors message.
Assist in identifying and training volunteers and other resources for the music ministry.
Other responsibilities as agreed upon under the direction of the pastor.
