As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical General Foreman to lead and oversee a multi-year commercial construction project in Old Saybrook, CT.

Position Summary:

The Electrical General Foreman will be responsible for the direct supervision and management of electricians and subcontractors, ensuring that all electrical installations are completed safely, on time, and to specification. Working closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other key stakeholders, the Electrical General Foreman will coordinate daily activities, enforce safety and quality standards, mentor team members, and assist in the planning and execution of complex electrical systems for a large, multi-phase project.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Coordination:

Oversee all on-site electrical work, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.

Coordinate with Project Managers, General Foremen of other trades, Engineers, and client representatives to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other construction disciplines.

Serve as a primary point of contact for the field crew, providing direction, guidance, and problem-solving support.

Quality Control & Compliance:

Ensure that all electrical installations meet company, project, and industry standards, as well as local, state, and federal codes and regulations.

Conduct regular quality inspections, identify and resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate documentation of all completed work.

Implement and maintain strict adherence to corporate Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures.

Safety Management:

Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing company and OSHA safety policies, conducting routine toolbox talks, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.

Ensure all team members follow proper PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe handling of tools and materials.

Conduct or coordinate safety training sessions as required and promptly address any safety concerns.

Resource Management & Efficiency:

Develop daily and weekly work plans with input from the Project Manager and ensure that labor, tools, and materials are properly allocated.

Monitor productivity rates and adjust crew assignments or work methods as necessary to achieve schedule milestones and budget targets.

Maintain accurate inventory of materials and equipment, coordinate deliveries, and manage tool maintenance and calibration.

Team Development & Leadership:

Mentor, train, and develop electricians and apprentices, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Recognize and address performance issues, document performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.

Encourage professional growth and help cultivate a skilled, cohesive team capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, large-scale project setting.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of commercial electrical construction experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or foreman role.

Licensure: Valid Connecticut E-1 or E-2 license (or equivalent) preferred.

Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), blueprints, electrical schematics, and commercial electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, data/telecom, etc.).

Leadership Abilities: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proven track record of managing and motivating a diverse field workforce.

Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues proactively, maintain composure under pressure, and adapt to changing project conditions.

Safety Mindset: Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, safe work practices, and hazard mitigation.
