Under the supervision of a Nurse Leader, the Patient Care Tech is responsible for performing specific duties that support patient care, which includes direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing a safe and efficient care environment. This position performs selected interventions and activities that contribute to providing comprehensive care to patients in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. In addition, along with the care team, this position is responsible for ensuring a positive patient experience. This role performs in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility in scheduling.Additional responsibilities and career advancement opportunities are available through a clinical ladder for Patient Care Techs based on experience, skillsets, and certifications held. Qualifications · No experience required, training provided on-site. · Successful completion of PCT specific HHC orientation. · Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Preferred · High school diploma or GED. · Some relevant experience in an acute care hospital environment. · Current certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) · Certification as a CNA, CPCT/A, EMT or CMA to be eligible for advancement in the PCT clinical ladder We take great care of careers. JOB SUMMARY Demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship.Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients. Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. Experience:One (1) year RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program. License and Certification:For RN\'s in the critical care track, current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Current Basic Life Support(BLS) certification. Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire. Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Basic knowledge of Nursing principles and practices. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions. Communicates effectively in order to provide technical or complex information as well as instruction. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians, managers and patients. Ability to handle multiple priorities, be flexible and a team player. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Commitment to customer service. Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data.
