Job description
Our periodontal practice that served the people of this community close to 50 years is looking for a part-time dental hygienist to join our team starting February 1st, 2025. There is a possibility of this position to become full-time in the near future.
The hygienist should be comfortable taking radiographs, as well as performing periodontal maintenance and scaling/root planning procedures.
Responsibilities
Discuss medical history and review patient chart to determine any missing patient documents/information
Educate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions. Educate patients about the nature of their disease and proper maintenance protocol. Educate patients about recommended treatment, its benefits and goals.
Detect disease by performing oral cancer screening and blood pressure checks, feeling, visually evaluating gums and using periodontal probes to assess periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession and taking radiographic studies
Thoroughly documents dental hygiene services by recording vital signs and medical and dental histories; charting in patient records and sending referral offices pertinent follow up documentation no later than the same day of the patients’ appointments.
Appoint patients for their recall appointment chairside.
Prepare room and patient for dental hygiene treatment by adhering to practice procedures and protocols.
Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health and per practice protocol.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with practice procedures, rules, and regulations.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/CE classes
Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday
License/Certification: Registered Dental Hygienist
