Responsibilities:
-Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence;
-Monitor and authorize entrance of people or vehicles at the property;
-Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area;
-Secure all exits, doors and windows after end of operations;
-Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts;
-Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions;
-Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation;
-Provide assistance to people in need;
-Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocol before arrival of authorities;
-Submit reports of daily activity and important occurrences;
-Make real-time notifications regarding any incidents or emergencies.
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to stand and walk constantly on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet) for a minimum of 8 hours; (and
or 12-16hrs if necessary)
-Ability to climb stairs, ramps or ladders periodically during shift;
-Periodically bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties;
-Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds; Run as needed; Ability to constantly use of both hands and arms in -
reaching/handling/grasping while using phone, computers and/or notepad;
-Excellent observation skills. Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read,
interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination;
-Constant mental alertness and attention to detail are required while setting priorities and following up on
assignments;
-Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat;
Qualifications/Requirements:
-Proven experience as a security officer or guard;
-Familiarity with report writing;
-Must be able to prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting;
-Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills;
-Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions;
-Ability to handle both common and crisis situations on-site, calmly and efficiently;
-Remain flexible to ever changing environments; adapt well to different situations;
-Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety;
-Tech-savvy with intermediate computer skills to utilize both hard-wired, wireless and mobile technology;
-Experience with Visitor Management systems a plus;
-Trained in First Aid/BLS is a plus;
-Certified as an F-01 Citywide Fireguard a plus;
-Active CT State Security Guard License is required.
