Overview
We are seeking someone with experience in 3D modeling (such as Fusion 360, Sketch-up, Solidworks, etc) for assistance with sales, design, and CNC programming. As we are a small shop, all employees are expected to be cross-trained to perform a wide range of jobs. For instance, when computer work is caught up on you may end up out in the shop assisting with building furniture.
Office Responsibilities (Training to be given to show our standards.)
-Assist in the designing, modeling, creation of production/assembly drawings, and CNC programming of custom projects.
-Assist in the creation of design proposals to send to clients which include making accurate renderings of final products, researching hardware and supplies to help with quoting, estimating overall labor costs, and making nice looking multi-page proposal documents that include all of the above.
-Create detailed drawings using Fusion 360 to send to clients for design approval or installation instruction.
-Assist in client interaction through email, phone, or in person to receive custom design requirements.
-Testing and troubleshooting your CNC programs via Fusion 360’s built-in virtual simulator and/or in person with our 5-axis CNC.
Additional Workshop Responsibilities (Appropriate training will be given.)
- Operation of large industrial woodworking machines (Jointer, Planer, CNC, Wide Belt Sander, Bandsaw, Panel Saw, etc).
- Reading production drawings and executing custom furniture assemblies per instructions.
- Classical hands-on woodworking.
- Sanding, surface preparation, and defect mitigation.
- Understanding and applying furniture finishes including spray booth operations.
- CNC operation and troubleshooting.
- Provide the team design consultation and problem-solving ideas.
- Maintain shop cleanliness standards.
- Provide general maintenance to shop machines.
Experience
We are willing to provide training with how WE do our modeling, proposals, drawings, customer interactions, etc, however, the ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
- Proficiency with some form of 3d modeling software.
- Experience or ability to write effectively and appropriately to clients.
- Experience or willingness to learn basic photo-editing skills to be used as decals for photo renderings and proposals.
- Motivation to learn the hands-on side of the job if woodworking experience isn’t already known.
- Ability to work largely unsupervised without distractions such as cell phones, social media, and personal screen time for the entire 8-hour shift (not including lunch breaks).
- Must show attention to detail with extra care in the quality of work.
- Teamwork mentality with a welcoming disposition that attracts collaborative problem solving within the team and with customers and suppliers.
Bonus Experience
- All current employees are creative/artistic and had backgrounds with designing and crafting in various forms as hobbies prior to working here; we find the most successful employees for our small company to be the ones who are passionate about creating opposed to those just seeing it as a job. Please feel free to share pictures of things you’ve created, even if you don’t think it’s relevant to this specific job.
If you have a strong background in these areas and are passionate about delivering high-quality craftsmanship, creative artistry, and stunning works of functional art, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
Pay can be negotiable based on relevant experience.
