POSITION SUMMARYIn this Investment Accountant position, you will support a wide range of investment accounting and financial analysis activities across all investment asset classes managed by the Foundation, including private assets and other alternative investments. You will report directly to the Associate Vice President for Finance and Controller with dotted line operational responsibilities to the Associate Director of Investments, and so must be able to work independently and within a team environment. In this role, you will:
Daily/Weekly Accounting and Operations:
Prepare journal entries for investment transactions and changes in market value in accordance with investment guidelines.
Monitor for incoming investment-related reporting, download documents, and take action as appropriate.
Monitor and coordinate the internal authorizations for capital calls and other activity including wires, trades, and asset transfers. Confirm the release of outgoing wires and receipt of incoming wires.
Prepare other miscellaneous cash entries for review and approval.
Work with internal partners in preparing and distributing weekly cash forecast.
Monthly/Quarterly Closing and Reporting:
Perform reconciliations among custody bank, accounting system, and investment system for all investment accounts; examine transactions in accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy. Work with external investment managers and custody bank to ensure records are accurate and complete.
Perform quarterly unitization of investment pool. Prepare for approval the appropriate journal entries to record income, spending, and reinvestment allocations per detailed fund account. Assist in preparation of Endowment Summary Report, market value and spending reports, and other relevant reports, and their dissemination to appropriate Foundation and University partners.
Other Responsibilities:
Oversee onboarding of new investments including opening new accounts and updating investment and accounting systems.
Participate in the annual audit by providing external auditors investment-related schedules and related footnotes for the audited financial statements.
Provide backup for the Assistant Controller with preparing quarterly financial statements and related schedules.
Oversee the preparation of investment-related surveys.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
3+ years of related experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting and/or investment information systems. Prior experience with FinancialEdge NXT and/or MSCI Total Plan (formerly Caissa) a plus (and may substitute for one year of related experience above).
Working knowledge of investment custody relationships.
General knowledge of various principles of accounting for investments.
Salary:The expected salary for this position is $75,000+. It will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also placing an emphasis on internal equity.
