POSITION SUMMARY:

The Team Leader ensures all areas on a shift are covered and prioritizes the flow and distribution of work. Acts as a resource for shift personnel. Communicates with departments requiring services, documents and relays customer requests to appropriate personnel. Performs quality control checks of staffs assigned areas and assesses productivity and quality. Performs cleaning tasks of areas assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

A High School diploma is desirable by not required, on the job training will be provided.

Must pass a physical examination as required by ECHN, and demonstrate the ability to utilize supplies, tools, heavy floor equipment and be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE

At least one year of experience in the Environmental Service Department, or in a lead position in a similar Housekeeping or environmental position that includes all aspects of floor care.

COMPETENCIES

The employee must be able to speak, read, and write English instructions.

Must have a good overall knowledge of all areas within the Hospital and/or affiliate facility serviced by the Environmental Department, and be experienced in complete floor care and in applying the appropriate cleaning practices and techniques to maintain safety and cleanliness.

The Team Leader must be able to communicate effectively with department personnel, employees, patients and/or residents and be capable of exercising good judgment when making decisions relative to shift schedules and the allocation of work as it relates to staff capability.

Must be capable of exercising judgment and making decisions relative to the timing of, and/or method of carrying out daily activities so as not to disrupt the comfort level of residents, patients, visitors and employee’s.

Must perform all the same cleaning activities as shift personnel.

Job-Specific Competency

Ensures all areas on shift are appropriately covered utilizing the daily sign-in/out sheets.

Documents and relays customer requests to appropriate individuals.

Fills out Supervisor Shift Report on a daily basis and checks report from previous shift including training and projects.

Performs one-on-one training of new department employees and documents on appropriate forms.

Performs housekeeping duties to cover on assigned areas.

Performs discharges and supervises the discharge and service call process.

Helps guide staff through difficult and unusual situations.

Provides one-on-one training to new department employees and documents training on appropriate forms

Assists in cleaning up emergency spills when observed or upon request. Transports and disposes of bio-hazardous waste in accordance with ECHN infection control policy, EPA and DEP regulations.

Performs discharges and supervises the discharge and related service call process.

Receives calls for service, documents the call and delegates personnel to provide needed services.

Remove bulk trash and linen and/or sort, stock linen carts. Delivers clean linens to appropriate stations.
