Leads and trains unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance personnel; assists in determining work priorities, planning, scheduling, assigning and reviewing work;

- Performs grounds keeping activities including mowing, trimming hedges, cultivating/weeding/pruning plants, flowers, trees and shrubs;```{=html}```
- Operates miscellaneous equipment such as power lawn mowers, trucks, loaders, gang mowers, saws, skid steer loaders and a variety of other power tools.```{=html}```
- Coordinates golf course improvement projects;```{=html}```
- Makes regular inspections of courses and facilities in order to correct dangerous or unsafe conditions;```{=html}```
- Assists in maintaining inventory of parts and supplies; orders necessary authorized materials and recommends capital purchases;```{=html}```
- Records prevailing conditions of the course such as moisture content, soil temperature, disease incidence, insect activity, and compaction. Applies, and directs employees in the application of fungicide, insecticide, herbicide, fertilizer, etc. as conditions dictate. Posts and records treatment in accordance with State of Connecticut DEEP regulations;
- Calibrates spreader and sprayers.
- Performs general seasonal maintenance and repair work on grounds and facilities including plowing and shoveling snow in and around Town parks, grounds, and facilities;```{=html}```
- Performs irrigation repairs;```{=html}```
- Resolves issues within scope of authority;```{=html}```
- Trains and coaches' employees on proper grounds methods and practices;```{=html}```
- Provides input to employee performance evaluations;```{=html}```
- Receives and accounts for supplies and equipment;```{=html}```
- Promotes a customer orientation in work groups;```{=html}```
- Performs related work as required.Additional Job Responsibilities:
Acts on behalf of the Golf Course Superintendent;
Supervision exercised over regular and seasonal golf maintainers and the mechanic.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of turf management, turf diseases, and the chemicals used in their control.Knowledge of safe and efficient equipment operation, grounds maintenance, and work zone safety.Knowledge of general gardening practices such as cultivating and fertilizing a garden.Knowledge of operation and maintenance
