HVAC Technician (Commercial/Residential)
Location: New Castle County, Delaware
Pay: $25.00 – $39.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (some Saturdays as needed)
Duration: Temp-to-Hire
On-Call Rotation: approximately 3 times per year
Position Overview
We are seeking skilled HVAC Technicians with experience in both commercial and residential systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, utilizing a strong understanding of refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatic and electronic controls, pipe fitting, welding/brazing, and mechanical layouts.
Key Responsibilities
Install, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems using hand tools, blueprints, wiring/piping diagrams, and engineering specifications.
Operate refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, charging equipment, and service gauges.
Troubleshoot to the component level and ensure systems meet design specifications.
Perform routine maintenance and operational checks on HVAC and related equipment.
Maintain quality, performance, and productivity standards on all assigned work.
Conduct repairs, overhauls, and start-ups of commercial HVAC systems.
Record temperature, pressure, and performance data at specified intervals.
Complete and maintain accurate job documentation and service records.
Stay current on manufacturers’ products and updates regarding installation, operation, and maintenance.
May be required to work varying schedules or shifts to meet company needs.
Experience with VAV/VVT systems and building controls (ATC Temperature, electronic and pneumatic) preferred.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or HVAC certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of HVAC service experience (preferred).
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required to drive company van).
Must pass a drug test and background check.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
Working Conditions
Field-based role with travel to residential and commercial job sites.
May require overtime, weekend, or limited on-call hours (on-call rotation only about 3 times per year).
