POSITION OVERVIEW
The landscape technician is an experienced team member in construction, basic low-voltage lighting, basic irrigation, and works with minimal supervision. This position typically works independently and would require a self-starter.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Reads landscape design prints, reviews prints with the sales consultant, and implements the landscape construction plan.
2. Ability to identify weeds to achieve weed free landscape beds on assigned properties.
3. Operates, proficiently, a variety of mechanical equipment, including bobcats, back hoes, dingos, tillers, sod cutters, string trimmers, plant augers, chain saws, and drills.
4. Operates truck and trailer combinations.
5. Interacts with clients by way of introductions at the beginning of a job, answering questions, responding to clients requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-through at the job’s completion.
6. Completes the necessary paperwork including timesheets, work orders, change orders, and material requisitions.
7. Plans and organizes the job, ensuring that sufficient resources and materials are available. Also, ensures that job is completed in the most time-efficient manner.
8. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment.
9. Helps, as necessary, with snow removal during the winter months.
10. Maintains assigned equipment and notifies mechanic of needed repairs.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidate must be able to read and write.
The successful individual will have a working knowledge of standard horticultural practices, including but not limited to planting and pruning.
Strong oral and written communication skills, supervisory skills, and a mechanical aptitude are a must.
Valid Driver’s license and insurable by the company’s agents
Must be able to lift 25 lbs

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school degree or GED is required, plus one year’s experience in the landscaping field is preferred.
Pesticide license is preferred but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment and demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move at least 25 pounds and be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions as majority of tasks are performed outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
