At Leonard's Express, Inc. we are looking for a motivated Quality Control Specialist who wants to help us improve our fleet through proactive management of strict quality control procedures. This is a full-time position. The ideal employee should display readiness to proactively work with our drivers and warehouse workers to evaluate the daily schedule, get to the root of any problem, then make a sound decision to resolve the problem. In this capacity, the Quality Control Specialist should be prepared to evaluate solutions relating to but not limited to timeliness, safety, cost management, productivity, company image, and customer satisfaction. All job duties must be performed in a way that promotes safe practices in accordance with Leonard's established safety programs.We are offering:Salary from $25-$27 an hour based on experienceWeekly payFull-timeGreat benefits (medical, dental, vision, employee assistance program)401K with company matchCompany paid life insurancePaid time offThe ideal employee will:Maintain weekday/weekend availability Thursday to SundayHoliday availability if the holiday falls on a normal workday (additional compensation provided)Ability to strictly follow and enforce compliance with the transfer dock SOPBe forklift certified or be willing to be trained and certifiedPossession of a current and valid Class A CDL is a plusThe essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:Strictly follows the Canal Street SOP at the direction of the Port Operations Manager, ensuring all parties execute all procedures accuratelyActs as the liaison between the driver and dock personnel to gather trailer numbers, dock door assignments, BOLs and packing listsEnsures all outside carriers check in with the Port Operations ManagerReviews all bills of lading (BOL) and packing lists to ensures accuracy of counts and temperature requirementsBefore loading or unloading begins, locks out the airline connection of the trailer/chassisEnsures all loads are temperature checked to include pulping and reefer setting v/s BOL temperature requirementsObserves all loads to look for pallet damage of any kindPerforms inventory countsFollows shipping and receiving schedules with an eye toward effective inventory control Reports all issues promptly to the Port Operations ManagerOther ongoing responsibilities include:Maintains cleanliness in trailers/containers either directly or by assigning these tasks to assigned employeesMaintains cleanliness of yard, dock, and/or warehouse either directly or by assigning these tasks to assigned employeesMaintains product integrity such as ensuring refrigerated items are maintained at appropriate temperature at all times while at the yard, dock, and/or warehouse Reduces damaged product by monitoring proper moving techniquesComplies with all company policies pertaining to food safetyCompletes other tasks as assigned by the Port Operations ManagerThe professional skills and abilities an ideal candidate should possess include:Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detailGood interpersonal and customer service skills, well-developed verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to work both as an individual contributor and a team memberThe ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities and meet assigned deadlinesAbility to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept directions on given assignmentsCommunicates proficiently and effectively to forklift drivers and customer driversBased on the technical and professional responsibilities of the position, the Quality Control Specialist is required to have:High school diploma or equivalent (GED)Experience with systems such as TMW and Microsoft Excel desirableEquipment Certificates: Forklift, clamp truck, and pallet jack desirablePossession of a valid Class a CDL is a plusThe Quality Control Specialist is primarily located in a warehouse environment with moderate to high noise levels and may be exposed to varying weather and temperature conditions while traveling. Physical requirements include:Using computer hardware and software for extended periods of time (repetitive motion)Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds and up to 80 pounds with assistance Must be available work into the evening, weekends & some holidaysTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
