Allow our team of experts to provide a customized waste disposal and recycling solution for your company, tailored to your needs, and your goals.The Facility Environmental Compliance Specialist is responsible for a wide range of tasks to ensure that CEM, CEGW and CEB operate in compliance with their respective permits. These tasks include technical reviews of projects that are being considered for acceptance at the facilities, inbound material sampling, outbound material sampling, technical review of sampling results, facility approvals, and performing inspection and documentation activities to ensure the facilities remain in compliance with their local, state, and federal permits.

Review testing procedures, analysis, site history and waste description for contaminated soil that is being considered for acceptance at the facility

Assist in approval of new and ongoing projects to ensure material meets acceptance criteria and maintain the records in accordance with the permit requirements

Job folder preparation and filing, evaluation of inbound job files for completeness and acceptability in accordance with permit requirements, approve jobs in data management system

Direct/perform sampling of both incoming material and processed batches of outgoing material, along with compliance sampling of groundwater including chain of custody and purchase order preparation, to ensure compliance with permit sampling frequency

Provide guidance to facility Operations Managers regarding amending of incoming material to assure that processed batches meet end use specifications

Determine treatment and outbound reuse options consistent with outbound facility requirements, submit approval packages to outbound facilities and provide certificates to clients as needed

Review facility permits to ensure and verify compliance with permit conditions

Perform routine inspections, sampling, and reporting as required by permits, local, state, and federal regulations and company environmental procedures

Maintain records according to permit requirements.

Prepare, review and submit quarterly and annual reports to regulatory agencies and maintain and review all permit required monitoring and data. Responsible for assuring all records are in compliance

Respond to requests for information from customers and from Clean Earth sales representatives regarding acceptable and unacceptable material, testing requirements, the approval process, and permit status

Participate in facility audits and inspections performed by local and state regulators and by client representatives

This is a hands-on role where you will be traveling to field locations approximately 25-40% of the time. Current driver’s license, clean driving record, and automobile required.

Basic Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Environmental Sciences preferred but other science degrees considered

2+ years of experience in waste disposal, EH&S, environmental consulting, or environmental laboratory

Preferred Qualifications:

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Experience using computerized systems

Ability to manage several tasks at once to meet deadlines

A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

Physical and Mental Demands:

Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers

Ability to sit and/or stand for 100% of an 8-hour day

Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment and conduct field sampling

Ability to read reports and job-related documents

Must be dependable and conscientious

Ability to pay close attention to detail

Ability to follow direction or instruction
