Seasonal Outside Workers (Labourers) take pride in contributing to the success of the team. They work in all weather conditions to maintain Merritt’s public grounds so they can be enjoyed by our City’s residents and visitors during the spring and summer seasons.
As a Seasonal Outside Worker, you will assist in maintaining the City parks, landscapes, sidewalks, streets, roads, the cemetery, compost, airport, lawn bowling, and baseball diamonds. With your customer-service orientation, your duties may include landscaping, planting bulbs, shrubs, weeding gardens, pruning, raking and helping the team to repair potholes, concrete, and bricks. You will run small equipment such as mowers, weedwhackers, skid steers and you may drive light-duty trucks or other equipment related to the work.This position requires 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.  As part of your role, you may also be required to participate in an on-call rotation.
