Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller- The Metropolitan Club – Washington, DC
The Metropolitan Club, one of the nation’s premier city clubs located in downtown Washington, DC, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join its prestigious team.
Position Summary
The Assistant Controller will report directly to the CFO and play a key role in managing the Club’s accounting operations. This role is responsible for supporting and coordinating key financial functions, including:
General ledger maintenance
Accounts receivable & accounts payable
Point of sale and fixed asset accounting
Internal control compliance and monitoring
Key Responsibilities
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and the Uniform System of Financial Reporting for Clubs
Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and management reports
Develop long and short-term financial forecasts for budgets, cash flow, and capital expenditures
Analyze financial data and prepare reports for executive leadership
Support the annual audit process and ensure regulatory compliance, particularly with section 501(c)(7) requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or related field (required)
CPA or CHAE designation (preferred)
Experience with club or hospitality accounting (strongly preferred)
Familiarity with the Jonas Club Management system (a plus)
Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Excellent communication, analytical, and research skills
