Job Title: Visitor Services Supervisor – Visitor Center
Reports To: Vice President of Member & Visitor Services
Position Summary: The Floor Supervisor is responsible for assisting the V.P. of Member & Visitor Services in running a productive and welcoming visitor center. The Floor Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day activities. Responsible for overseeing the frontline staff, implementing and guiding policy and procedures to provide exceptional service to visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise 2-4 part-time visitor center staff per shift, ensuring friendly service, accurate sales, cleaning, restocking, and other duties as assigned
Delegate special projects and work assignments as needed
Support VP with staff scheduling issues (e.g., sick, vacation, events)
Resolve any escalated customer problems or issues
Train and shadow new staff to include opening and closing duties, Square POS system, restocking, phone and computer, visitor questions & answers
Maintain a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors
Project Management/Events:
Coordinate seasonal delivery of promotional materials to members
Coordinate seasonal decorations at Visitor Center, inside and outside
Conduct quarterly gift shop inventory
Run registration desk at Visit Alexandria member meetings/events
Administrative:
Manage gift shop purchasing plans in coordination with VP
Track and maintain visitor guide & brochures rack stocking and reserve inventory
Monitor Visit Alexandria mailbox at City Hall
Make weekly deposits from Visitor Center at bank
Coordinate guest/office supply inventory and delivery
Troubleshoot phone/computer/printer/IT issues and updates, as needed
Replace outdoor Windmaster promotional posters, seasonally
Handle internal and familiarization promotional merchandise transactions
Prepare gift bags for Visit Alexandria guests/journalists/vendors
Qualifications
3+ years of retail/customer service experience
Prior staff management experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Strong attention to detail
Outstanding communication skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
Flexible availability – days, evenings, weekends, holidays
