The Washington Waldorf School, located in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking a lead teacher for our early childhood after school program and aftercare program, effective immediately.
The teacher will lead two distinct programs: our after school program that operates from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and our aftercare program that operates from 3-6 p.m. This is a full-time hourly position from noon to 6 p.m. Benefits include health, life, and disability insurance, paid personal and sick leave, dental reimbursement, and after 1 year of employment, a school-sponsored retirement program. The position does not include tuition remission, though the teacher will be eligible to receive financial aid equal to all demonstrated need for eligible dependents who are students at the school.
The afternoon teacher will be working as a lead teacher with an assistant in the class. Primary responsibilities of the position include:
⢠Carry out the classroom program and activities for a class of up to 18 children in alignment with the WECAN principles, nurturing and educating children in a way that demonstrates sound knowledge of early childhood.
⢠Provide a bridge for parents to Waldorf education and Washington Waldorf School through regular class meetings, sharing of relevant materials, and at parent teacher conferences.
⢠Maintain classroom, and manage teaching supplies and budget for the Afternoon class and department.
⢠Participate in the admissions process for new families, including enrollment events outside of regular school hours.
⢠Participate in all school and department wide faculty work including meetings and teacher development.
Requirements for the position include a BA degree, experience working with young children, familiarity with Waldorf pedagogy, and ability to pass Maryland criminal background check. Waldorf training and experience is preferred.
