Part-Time Bi-Lingual Community Ambassador

Job Summary

The Community Ambassador is a vital part of the team working at Community Lodgings. The position works closely with the Executive Director and Director of Resident Services to engage our resident community, educate and empower them to be involved in Chirilagua-Arlandria Resident Equity Solutions (CARES), and help shape its identity, purpose, and plans to address barriers to affordable housing and concerns that affect health and safety.

Essential Duties

Community Outreach and Engagement

● Engage actively with the local community through events, workshops, and meetings.

● Collect feedback from residents on their concerns surrounding affordable housing issues and other resources needed in the community and recommendations as part of a community needs assessment and ongoing communications.

● Host resource information sessions about issues of concern for the community.

Tenant Organizing and Empowerment

● Work closely with tenants to organize them around common issues and concerns, empowering them to advocate for their rights and needs.

● Engage tenants as community leaders and participate in the CARES collective impact process.

● Serve as an advocate and service navigator for residents connecting them with services and working hand-in-hand with residents to develop partnerships that build sustainable resources in the community.

Storytelling and Communication

● Collect testimonials and success stories from tenants and community members to use in newsletters, social media posts, and fundraising campaigns.

Partnerships and Collaborations

● Forge partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and government agencies and become involved as key stakeholders in the CARES collective impact process.

Skills

● Communication: The ability to communicate effectively, building relationships with tenants and community members.

● Empathy and Compassion: The ability to empathize with the experiences and challenges tenants and community members face is crucial for building trust and rapport.

● Interpersonal Skills: Listening actively, resolving conflict, and collaborating effectively.

● Organizational Skills: Time management skills are essential for managing multiple tasks and priorities, such as organizing events and coordinating outreach efforts.

● Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify challenges and develop creative solutions. This may involve advocating for policy changes, mobilizing resources, or collaborating with stakeholders to find mutually beneficial solutions.

Qualifications

● Live or have strong connections in the Arlandria- Chirilagua.

● Lived experience in housing insecurity or related experiences.

● Bilingual and have experience working with limited English-proficient communities.

Working Conditions

This position requires regular travel within the community and participation in events. The Community Ambassador must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team in various settings.

Part-time (afternoon and evening preferred)
