Job Description: We are seeking a math tutor who can work one-on-one with high school students on an in-home basis. Candidates should be able to explain and demonstrate mathematical concepts, in a thorough, comprehensive manner to students. We value strong interpersonal and communication skills; we want tutors who can summarize complex subjects simply, and patiently. Tutors will also be responsible for providing ELA tutoring and SAT/ACT test preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide individualized tutoring to middle and high school students, with specialization in advanced mathematics.
-Maintain a patient, empathetic and resourceful approach while tutoring.
-Develop and maintain ongoing educational goal and objectives.
-Administer SAT/ACT test preparation, including scoring and feedback.
-Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and guardians.
-Document all tutoring sessions and communication with clients.
Qualifications:
-Two years of experience tutoring or teaching, one-on-one or group-based.
-Area of study in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
-Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and the ability to explain them patiently, and compassionately.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-Driver's License and personal means of transportation to travel to clients' homes.
-Ability to commute to and within the Fairfax County region.
Job Type: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 8 per week
Experience:
Two years of teaching or tutoring experience (Required)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (Preferred)
