Job description:
Client is looking for a

Cybersecurity Training Specialist. This role will support the Cyber Security and Privacy Awareness Training Program to provide mandatory annual cybersecurity and privacy awareness training to Agency staff. Cybersecurity awareness training is required per the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and provides the Agency staff with the knowledge needed to protect themselves and the Commission from cyber threats. As a part of the training, monthly phishing exercises are used to train staff on how to identify potential phishing attacks. The Candidate shall have subject matter expertise to support the development, delivery and maintenance of a comprehensive cybersecurity awareness and training program and monthly phishing exercises.

At a minimum, the Cybersecurity Training Specialist should provide support in the following areas:
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Provide a gap analysis, with recommendations for improvement, of the existing training program and materials
  • Develop and deliver monthly phishing exercise to Agency staff membership and associated reporting to CIO and division chiefs
  • Develop, deliver and maintain an outreach and marketing strategy for cybersecurity
  • Engage with the CISO and training coordinators to communicate changes to Agency training programs
  • Enhance, document, administer, and deliver a comprehensive program to measure and improve the cybersecurity awareness and vigilance of Agency system users, including those with significant security responsibilities
  • Develop and implement reporting and tracking processes for information security awareness and role-based information security training

The client’s key initiatives for the Cyber Education Program are:
  • CSAT (Cyber Security Awareness Training): new user training; yearly CSAT
  • Monthly Phishing Exercises: monthly emails; tiered exercises; debrief emails
  • Role-Based Trainings: incoming leadership; system owner; privileged users
  • Cyber Knowledge Shares: cyber tips/news; scheduled meetings with all divisions
  • Reporting: online access to data; division-specific reporting; ad-hoc filtering capabilities

Currently, the client’s Cyber Security Education Program includes:
  • New Hire Cyber Training
  • Annual CSAT
  • Monthly phishing exercises

The Cyber Security Education Program’s goal is to create and develop a more mature and cyclical cyber curriculum within the client space:
  • Continuing distribution and metric calculations of the annual CSAT (Cyber Security Awareness Training)
  • Developing Cyber Best Practice emails to be sent to all staff on a quarterly basis
  • Bi-Yearly Cyber Knowledge Exchange Meetings with each division
  • Creating unique role-based trainings for privileged users, System Owners (SO) and Information System Security Officers (ISSO)
  • Conducting monthly phishing exercises:
    • Establish a standard blueprint and matrix for scaling metrics
    • Reduce phishing click metrics
    • Increase reporting metrics to 80% or higher
    • Continue to educate users with Post Exercise Communication emails, highlighting indicators
    • Create corrective action courses for individuals that incur numerous failures from the monthly exercises
  • Automated training report development
  • Prepare and create content for Cyber Awareness Month which occurs every October
