Daru, and Indian inspired restaurant on H Street, is looking for a Cook. We provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, creating a place where our guests feel at ease. Our food is rooted in Indian; techniques but engages with ingredients and dishes from around the world.
We seek a professional and organized Line Cook to provide a supportive role to the kitchen staff in the preparation of meals and ingredients. Your duties include organizing and labeling food items in storage closets, performing tasks like chopping ingredients and sanitizing their work station during and after service.
Responsibilities:
Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the leadership team.
Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves.
Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats.
Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients.
Prep tasks include par cooking, reducing sauces and starting first steps in dishes.
Cleaning and organizing dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing the kitchen + weekly deep cleaning projects.
Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards.
Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply.
Respect and passion for other team members and guests.
Other Requirements -
1+ years experience
Able to walk or stand for long periods. Must be able to push, pull, or lift to 30 pounds. Must reach items at varying heights (on shelves, on the ground, etc.)
Schedule: 35-40 hours per week. Tuesday - Saturday schedule.
Please have solid references and a history of achievement in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Weekends are required. Ability to speak Spanish is not required but is a plus. Teamwork are key values of our kitchen.
