Seeking a part-time, one-on-one direct Aide (support caretaker) to work with a young adult (20s) male with non-verbal autism in Arlington VA, within a mile of Ballston Metro.
Provide mentorship and companionship. Goals include developing independent living skills, chores, communications, etc. Also, assist the subject perform jobs in lawn care and similar work. A successful relationship will include long park walks and bike rides of over 6 miles, although for at least half time you will be free to study or follow other private pursuits. Applicants should be self-motivated, flexible individuals with the physical confidence necessary to lead interactions with an athletic young man.
This specific position is a part-time daytime position with lots of flexibility in terms of scheduling. We envision 12-20 hours over 2-3 days between M-F. Work with other individuals may be available, offering a potential full-time schedule.
