Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice temporarily for about 6 to 8 months. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing thorough assessments, and assisting in various dental procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control practices, and the ability to work effectively with patients to promote oral health.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history and oral health evaluations.

Perform dental cleanings, scaling and root planing using appropriate aseptic techniques.

Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of regular dental visits.

Assist in the administration of local anesthesia as needed.

Utilize Open Dental software for patient records management and treatment planing.

Take and interpret dental imaging such as X-rays to aid in diagnosis of oral hygiene conditions.

Monitor vital signs and maintain accurate patient records during visits, including accurate charting and clinical notes.

Schedule patient recare accordingly.

Maintain hygiene operatory clean and stocked, proper breakdown and set up of room between patients. Maintain and sterilize hygiene instruments.

Assist in end of day breakdown, taking out trash, sterilization, closing hygiene room, etc.

Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Collaborate with the dental team to provide exceptional patient care.

Experience

Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist or similar role is preferred.

Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures is essential.

Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques is required.

Proficiency in using Open Dental or similar dental practice management software is advantageous.

Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and comfort.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour

Expected hours: Up to 25 per week

Schedule:

Office is open from 9am-5pm. Expected work time is 8:30am-5:30pm. Lunch hour is typically 1-2pm, these times are subject to change. Hygiene schedule will be 2-3 days a week, no Friday's or weekend hours.
