Dental Hygienist Job Description
Dental Hygienist Responsibilities
Conduct dental cleanings and other preventative dental care.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide guidance on maintaining oral health.
Take and develop dental x-rays.
Perform periodontal charting and administer fluoride treatments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Assist the dentist during procedures by providing necessary tools and materials.
Sterilize dental instruments and ensure the cleanliness of the dental operatory.
Screen patients for oral diseases and conditions, and report findings to the dentist.
Apply sealants and other protective coatings to teeth.
Provide post-treatment care instructions to patients.
Dental Hygienist Requirements
Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of practice.
Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Current CPR certification.
Strong knowledge of dental hygiene principles, procedures, and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proficiency in using dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in performing tasks.
