Paralyzed gentleman, age 60 and 130 lbs., needs a home caregiver twice everyday - in the morning to get him up, and in the evening to put him to bed, with all his ADLs distributed through the morning and evening. Each 'shift' is no longer than 3 hours, and if you finish in less time we'll pay you for three hours anyway. Our current need is for a weekday evening caregiver: Monday through Friday evenings (5:30 pm to 8:30 pm).
Gordon is had an outpatient surgical procedure on Tuesday, February 19th, and is having some recovery issues. Shift also I (bed bath or shower) and includes safe transfer from Wheelchair to bed, set up of feeding tube formula, wash up, and set up of urinary catheter and bedbag. We need someone for the evening shift on an on-going basis at $14/hr.
We are looking for someone with some CNA-level (or better) skills (but we can teach you everything you need to know to do things our way.) Safe and secure wheelchair transfer experience and good body mechanics are very important. Wife (age 72) can no longer do transfers (but we have a Hoyer lift).
Gordon is just home ten weeks from a total of three months of hospitalization for recurring aspirarion pneumonia, and his care and nursing needs are significant. I (wife) will do all of the things that CNAs are not permitted to do, but there's lots of help needed to assist me and keep ourselves going! Gordon is a sweet man with a great sense of humor and a great smile, but has a new tracheostomy (frequent suctioning which wife will do), as well as a Gastric/Jujunal Feeding tube, an internal baclophen pump (for his Cerebral Palsy), nebulizer and suction treatments, and lots of fun electronics to support his life.
