Spectrum Services Group Inc. (SSGi) is a medical contracting firm that supplies healthcare professional to Government Clients and Military Hospitals and Clinics throughout the United States.

Seeking RN's in Labor and Delivery with 1 year PostPardum experience.

Must be a US Citizen

Must have 1 year experience in Labor and Deliver with Postpardum

Must be a licensed RN

Must be able to work 3-4 12 hour shifts a week, 1 weekend a month

Labor Category: Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) Registered Nurse

1.1 QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Must have a Diploma, Associates, or bachelor’s degree in

nursing from an accredited college or university.

Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support Have and maintain current

certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association

or American Red Cross.

Experience: The Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) Registered Nurse at a

minimum, must have one year Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum or Labor &

Delivery experience, with no more than 12 months since last work assignment.

Board Certification Have and maintain current Certification in Basic

Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association or American Red

Cross.

Licensure/Registration: The Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP)

Registered Nurse must possess a valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations,

stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as an RN in at least one state

or territory (Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the Virgin Islands) in the United

States. All licenses remain current, valid, and unrestricted during the contract

employment.

1.2 WORK HOURS. Three 12-hour Shifts per week- weekends included

1.3 SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

The duties for the HCW are as follows:

A. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to communicate with all patients and other health care providers effectively.

B. Must be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.

C. Possess knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.

D. Be a U.S. citizen.

E. Perform monitoring of triage patients, including continuous fetal monitoring, spontaneous rupture of membrane check, labor check, prolonged monitoring, rule out pre-term labor, decreased fetal movement, and pre-eclampsia.

F. Perform monitoring of patients, including continuous fetal monitoring, vital signs, labor checks, and cervical examinations.

G. Provide intravenous management (fluids, Pitocin, MgSO4, antibiotics, blood products).

H. Provide pain management. Monitor patient status on continuous laboring epidurals, intravenous narcotics, and provide emotional support.

I. Assist provider with inductions (cervical ripening, artificial rupture of membranes, Pitocin).

J. Assist provider with vaginal delivery procedures (pushing, delivery, recovery).

K. Assist provider with operative vaginal delivery procedures (vacuum, forceps).

L. Perform pre-op for Cesarean-sections (C-section) (shave-prep, Foley catheter, intravenous bolus, and emotional support).

M. Perform procedures for transition of normal newborn (bath, shots, assessment, and breast feeding assistance).

N. Provide stabilization for transport of high-risk patients (MgSO4, dexamethasone, antibiotics, and emotional support).

O. Provide patient and family teaching.

P. Support C-section deliveries as circulating nurse in the operating room.

Q. Provide breastfeeding support and education.

R. Must be responsible for and provide family and patient centered nursing care to infants and women of child bearing age.

S. Must maintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all patients cared for, as required.

T. Must assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal unit operations and ensure compliance with JC standards, to include, but not limited to, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of SOP’s and standards, conducting monthly record chart audits and attend staff meetings.

U. Monitors cardiac telemetry, performs EKG runs, and interprets cardiac rhythm strips.

V. May be required to work on the Labor & Delivery Unit and the Mother-Baby Unit (LDRP).

W. May be required to perform charge nurse duties.

X. Demonstrate a clear understanding of adhering to hospital policies and procedures, particularly those dealing with patient health information (PHI) and patient confidentiality.

Y. Assess newborns for symptomatic changes and educate families on the expectations and side effects of treatments and procedures.

Z. Identify newborns for which care is or is perceived to be in deviance from the normal parameters and accepted standards of care recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and research-based Policy & Procedures

AA. Interview family independently and work with staff medical providers to initiate corrective actions as indicated.

AB. Provide verbal and written instructions to the newborn's family on matters pertaining to procedures, treatments, and follow-up appointments including potential risks, side effects, and health benefits.

AC. Identifies overall nursing needs as they relate to the health needs of newborns.

AD. Deliver lactation care within accepted standards and provide antepartum/postpartum breastfeeding consultations.
