Physically Strong Home Caregiver (Diaper Changing, Meds Giving)

$20-25 (depending on experience and certifications) an hour, paid every two weeks.

Client Details:

82 year old African American male. He had a stroke and his right arm and leg have not recovered yet. He has ability in his left arm and left leg. He's not able to speak. He's married with children and grandchildren. He will be cared for in his home in Silver Spring, MD near the White Oak area/Springbrook High School area. He eats a liquid diet through a feeding tube syringe. He needs to diaper changing and medicine crushed and given twice a day.

If you are hired, your main point of contact will be myself; I'm the daughter. My father in particular requires 24 hour care, so there will be another caregiver working the shifts you are not working.

Responsibilities:

Provides hands-on care for stoke patient client, assisting with daily needs such as bed bathing, diaper changing, and feeding

Communicate concerns about their health and well-being to me

Conduct range of motion exercises

Transfer to wheel chair at least once a day. We have a “Lift” but you must be able to transfer him independently with the lift.

Dispensing medication (we will train you on this)

Follow daily schedule of activities (includes helping client exercise and range of movement, outdoor time, etc.)

Run washer and dryer and fold clean clothes and bedding, take out the trash (used diapers).

Using the tv and stereo to play movies and listen to music

Requirements:

Patient is 'dead weight' and cannot move themself, so must be able to lift patient enough to change diaper

Experience preferred, not required

Preferred certifications (not required): HHA, PCT, or CNA License in Maryland, Geriatric specific experience or education preferred or completion of a Valid Patient Care Technician Training Program

Serve as a Contractor, not employee

Must have reliable transportation

Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADL's) in a safe and beneficial manner

Speak and write in English

Must be OK with cats, we have one friendly cat

Must be OK with young children, there are two young children in the house (11 and 9 years old)
