Job Description:
As a Freight Handler at OLABAY MARINE INTEGRATED SERVICES LIMITED, you will be essential to maintaining efficient logistics operations, overseeing the management of bulk shipments from Nigeria to the USA. The primary tasks include:
Pick-up Coordination: Organizing for the pickup of bulk shipments which will be sent from Nigeria once it arrives at IAD airport (Dulles International Airport) and ensuring timely pick up from the airport.
Sorting: Efficiently sorting out of shipments based on destination and other relevant criteria.
Inventory Management: Keeping track of inventory levels, conducting inventory counts, and reporting any discrepancies to supervisors.
Documentation: Ensuring accurate completion of shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and customs forms.
Labeling: Attaching appropriate shipping labels to all packages according to destination and shipping requirements.
Quality Control: Inspecting cargo for damage, discrepancies, or irregularities and reporting any issues to supervisors or relevant parties.
Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries during cargo handling operations.
Communication: Maintaining effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of cargo handling activities.
Customer Service: Providing assistance and support to customers with inquiries, complaints, or special requests related to cargo handling or shipments.
Security Measures: Following security protocols to prevent unauthorized access to cargo and minimize the risk of theft or tampering.
Teamwork: Collaborating with team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives, including assisting with tasks outside of typical duties when necessary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in freight handling or logistics preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
Attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipments.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
