PRACTICE OVERVIEW
We are a new law firm opening in January 2025. Practice area will be criminal law. Law firm will be a boutique firm in the District of Columbia. Law firm will operate under DC Rules of Professional Responsibility ยง5.4(b) which allow for nonlawyer investor partners in the law firm.
Law firm will provide Clients ranging from criminal law cases to DUI cases. During the month of January, law firm is expected to have around twenty (20) Clients. Attorney will receive ownership in the firm in exchange for his/her labor, plus 70% of Client fees. Law firm will also pay for office expenses, insurance, Westlaw/LexisNexis, etc. There should be no out-of-pocket expenses for the Attorney partner.
Attorney should expect to handle around ten (10) DUI cases per month along with larger criminal law cases. Attorney will be paid per case, on a case by case basis. Attorney has the right to accept or decline cases. Law firm will be competing against other firms, so the Attorney must be able to accept or decline cases within 24 hours. If the Attorney declines too many cases or is consistently too slow to respond to prospective Clients, the Attorney will be removed from the law firm.
