Patent law firm is searching for a patent docketing database assistant to work full time in our Gaithersburg, MD office. This is an in-office, entry level position to work with our senior staff members to keep client databases up to date.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support senior staff to review and docket all incoming and outgoing correspondence for US, PCT and foreign patent applications into the firm’s and client-run databases for parallel docketing
Handling daily correspondence and communicating due dates to attorneys and senior staff
Review of case files for document completeness and update where necessary
Indexing and managing email communications into document database
Electronic conversion of documents, indexing and uploading to databases
Support senior staff to prepare documents for client correspondence or for submissions to the US Patent & Trademark Office
IT coordinator for the firm to handle initial requests from users and make determinations on level of help needed and coordinate IT support from firm’s vendor(s)
Desired Skills/Traits:
MS Office
Prefer 2 years of office experience, but willing to train the right candidate
Working knowledge of document management database preferred, ProLaw highly preferred
Working knowledge of docketing database such as CPi, Pattsy, Master Data, Foundation IP, Anaqua, etc. useful
Ability to deal with non-conventional situations and customize procedures for clients
Keen attention to detail and enjoys details
Discrete and able to handle confidential information
Longevity in employment history
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Self-starter, thrive in a fast paced environment
Ability to identify issues and work to resolution before they become problems.
Stellar interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills
