Sands of Time Gallery (www.sandsoftimedc.com) is seeking a part-time Administrative assistant. The gallery specializes in Ancient art, Precolumbian Art, Asian art, and Australian Aboriginal Fine Art. Our sister company, Sands of Time Vintage, offers pre-loved designer handbags. We are also a personal property appraisal firm that provides fine art and decorative art appraisals for Estate Planning, Insurance, IRS Donations, and Legal settlements, just to name a few. REQUIRED DUTIES:
Packing and shipping objects from our gallery
Unpack and catalog objects as they arrive
Maintain gallery databases with provenance information, descriptions, and condition reports
Maintain appraisal database with comparison information
Help create monthly newsletters
Assist our gallery manager with day-to-day operations
General admin, filing, photocopying etc
DESIRED SKILLS:
Responsive/Organized; Self-Motivated
Knowledge and experience with social media, Microsoft suite, Adobe suite, Canva and Promo (video editing)
Excellent research and writing skills
Experience in office administration or other related fields, art history, fine art, and/or museum studies is preferred.
LOCATION: This is an on-site position at our gallery in Georgetown.
HOURS – 2 days per week, preferably from 2pm - 6pm Tuesday and Thursday. This position is for three months only, but could be extended.
COMPENSATION: $17.50 - $20 ph depending on experience
