IT Support Technician – Northern Virginia (Preferred)

Position Overview:

Blue Tech Innovation is seeking a Field IT Support Technician with strong hands-on technical skills to support our growing client base across DMV. This is a client-facing, field-based role requiring a proactive problem solver who can work independently at client sites and resolve a wide range of hardware, networking, and infrastructure issues.

The ideal candidate has experience in Managed Services or IT Consulting, is highly reliable, and understands the urgency and professionalism required in field work environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform onsite and remote troubleshooting of client infrastructure, hardware, and networking issues

Support and maintain Windows Servers, firewalls, switches, and wired/wireless networks

Conduct physical installations and upgrades including:

o Network and workstation cabling

o Rack and stack of servers, switches, UPS, and other equipment

o Hardware replacements in desktops, laptops, and servers

Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless systems

Implement and support backup solutions, including on-site appliances and cloud/offsite systems

Perform end-user support and device troubleshooting for both Windows and Mac OS environments

Respond promptly to service tickets and follow through on issue resolution

Deliver clear documentation for installed systems, network configurations, and field resolutions

Technical Qualifications:

Must have at least 2+ years of relevant hands-on IT support experience, preferably in a field service, managed services, or consulting capacity.

Required Technical Skills:

Firewall installation, configuration, and policy management (e.g., Sonic Wall, Fortinet)

Switch configuration and troubleshooting (e.g., VLANs, trunking, STP)

PC/laptop/server hardware diagnostics and replacement

Infrastructure cabling: Ethernet, patch panels, cable management

Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration (Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP)

Office 365 management (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive)

VPN setup and client troubleshooting

Backup systems (local & cloud solutions, NAS, BDR appliances)

Bonus/Preferred Experience:

Mac OS support in mixed environments

Printer/server configuration and management

Remote management tools (RMM platforms like Connect Wise, N-Able, or similar)

Exchange Server (on premise), Microsoft 365 migration knowledge

Azure AD and hybrid identity configurations

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Comfortable working at client sites independently or with minimal supervision

Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users

Highly organized with strong time management and ticket documentation skills

Possess a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license (mileage reimbursed for client visits)
