Location: Alexandria, VA
Terms: Full Time with Benefits (Medical, Dental, PTO)
Schedule: Weekday 8 AM- 4 PM with a weekend event rotation.
Compensation: $20-$30 hourly, depending on experience

Helen Olivia is a Washington, DC based floral and events studio that services a wide variety of accounts including hotels, universities, private homes, weddings, social events, and every day retail orders. Our focus is on providing beautiful flowers and impeccable customer service.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of floral designer includes design of everyday retail arrangements, event design, lobby design, and commercial floral installations in a fun and fast paced environment. Our floral design team executes arrangements in accordance with industry pricing and production standards. Although we have a well-established house style, our designers enjoy working in both modern and garden styles of design for our event and corporate clients. While design experience is a strong plus, we are willing to train the right candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fill retail floral and plant orders according to order specifications.
Learn and design using the studio's house style.
Create floral designs according to studio mark ups.
On occasion, help with answering overflow phone calls and walk in customers.
Go on site for event and wedding installations.
Work as part of a larger design team and studio team.
Assisting with studio projects as needed.
Option to participate in workshop program as a teacher.
Plant care, potting, and maintenance in studio.
Light help with processing of flowers as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Floral design experience is a strong plus.
Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Ability to converse with an upscale clientele.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
A strong eye for color, shape, and design.
Computer proficiency (email, word, google drive)
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to work both in a team setting and individually.
Ability to work some nights and weekends for major events and holidays.
Ability to use a price list and standard mark ups to ensure profitable designs.
Ability to design quickly without sacrificing quality in accordance with industry standards.

Salary: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on experience
