Print Service Coordinator

Overview:

Under general supervision, the Print Services Coordinator performs full performance level skilled work in the operation of high speed offset copier and binding machines to print single and multi color copies of forms, bulletins, and other City publications. The work of this class involves examining job orders to determine quantity to be printed, stock, colors, and special printing and bindery instructions, and operating, cleaning, and making minor adjustments on duplicating and bindery equipment. Work is primarily performed independently with occasional review for quality, volume, timeliness and other characteristics of professional printing.

The ideal candidate should have thorough knowledge of production equipment, operating experience with continuous feed inkjet printing, high speed digital printing and operating bindery equipment and experience operating an automated high speed inserter, automated high speed envelope sorter and metering equipment. Strong computer and internet skills, a friendly and genuinely helpful demeanor.

Operates high speed duplication, bindery and other reproduction equipment in the printing of publications, forms, bulletins, or other items;

Scans and digitize forms and documents;

Assists in the design or layout of forms and materials to be printed;

Develops estimates of job costs;

Tracks and report machine performance and usage;

Maintains an inventory of supplies;

Performs a variety of complex tasks in the operation of reproduction of copies in several colors and tones, requiring adjustments and other course of actions;

Performs preventive maintenance on printing equipment.

Performs related work as required

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum four (4) years of experience in supervision of digital, offset and wide format printing, color management and good interpersonal skills. Knowledge of paper substrates, inks and bindery processes. General knowledge of computer software including Adobe InDesign, Acrobat and Microsoft Office and database entry. Knowledge of inks, papers and production processes. General knowledge of operation of folder, collator-stitcher-trimmer, perfect binding, auto punching and various other binding processes. Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
