Job description

The Travel technician will have the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience in various low voltage, telecommunications and infrastructure systems and installations. The technician will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of infrastructure and low voltage telecom systems. Under the supervision you will gain hands-on experience and knowledge in low voltage work while adhering to safety and industry standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assisting in Low Voltage Installation and Maintenance:

Help install, maintain, and repair low voltage systems, including security caging, hot/cold aisle containment, floor structures, telecom conveyance, telecom cabling, network rack/cabinet installations, IT equipment rack & stack and IT migrations

Perform basic tasks such as pulling wire, drilling holes, and mounting equipment under supervision.

Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing telecom connectivity issues.

2. Compliance and Safety:

Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.

Report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors immediately.

3. Equipment and Tools:

Utilize appropriate tools and equipment for infrastructure and low voltage work, ensuring they are maintained in good condition.

Read and interpret blueprints, and technical drawings related to infrastructure/low voltage systems

4. Team Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with electrical team, project management and other team members to complete tasks.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status and any issues that arise.

5. Travel:

Travel 80-100% to various project sites as required.

Ensure compliance with travel policies and procedures while maintaining high standards of work at different locations.

Experience

Basic understanding of construction and/or data center principles

Willingness to learn and follow instructions.

Ability to self-motivate and manage assigned workflow in both independent and team settings.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Basic knowledge of the use of power tools, saws, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and any other tools associated with the infrastructure/low voltage industry.

Basic knowledge of data center caging, floor structures and/or containment

Basic knowledge of telecom systems and installation

Operate two-handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and any other tools associated with the infrastructure/low voltage industry.

Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts.

Operate company vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Must be at a minimum of 18 years of age.

Work a 40-hour work week, overtime as required and night shifts when applicable.

Have and maintain a current, valid, and in good standing Driver’s License that will meet the requirements of our insurance company to drive company vehicles.

Able to pass background check and drug screen

Education/Certifications

High School degree or GED required.

Additional certifications (OSHA, NFPA 70E, FOA, BICSI, etc) are a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by the needs of the project demands.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.

Lift arms above shoulder level.

Lift minimum of 50 pounds.

Climb ladders (all types of step ladders, frame ladders, and all size extension ladders). Being able to carry and relocate up to 12 ft. step ladders by oneself. Be able to go up and down stairways daily. Perform work at various heights, up to 90 feet from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, or other safe work areas.

Be able to wear all (PPE) Personal Protection Equipment.

Complete overhead work for a full day assignment.

Good vision and hearing (normal or corrected). Correctly identify colors.

Since some projects are located where there are no places to eat lunch or obtain food you would be required to bring your lunch and any necessary snacks or drinks.

Able to utilize job site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).

Ability to Travel 80%-100% of the time. Travel may be regional or national

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
