Practice Registered NurseJob Description:The Student Health Care Center at the University of Florida within the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM) is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to join our team. As a healthcare provider for UF students, your role will involve offering primary and women's healthcare services, including diagnosis, treatment, physical exams, and health education. You'll prescribe treatments and medications based on medical practice guidelines, offering patient counseling and education on their health issues and available options. You'll emphasize preventive care and health promotion, ensuring a comprehensive approach to healthcare. This position also includes rotating on-call responsibilities, including evenings, weekends, and holiday clinic coverage with the medical team.Medical Evaluation, Diagnostic Expertise and Treatment:

Evaluate and treat chronic illnesses (e.g., asthma, hypertension, mental health, diabetes)

Address acute illnesses and injuries among UF students

Order and interpret laboratory and radiological reports

Modify treatment plans based on diagnostic results

Medication Management:

Prescribe a wide range of pharmaceuticals

Offer patient counseling and education on treatment and medication options

Administrative Duties and Committee Participation:

Maintain clinical records in accordance with established charting guidelines

Refer and collaborate on cases with staff physicians and providers

Participate in on-call after-hours services

Provide weekend and holiday coverage at the clinic

Serve on SHCC and AdHoc Committees as assigned

Education and Supervision

Precept clinical students as assigned

Typical schedule:Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, 40 hours a week. Hours and days can vary according to the SHCC’s needs; Sunday work hours may be required occasionally. Two years of appropriate experience

Adept at dealing with the problems of a college-age population, consultation/outreach, development theories of the adolescent and adult, and being able to understand the individual in the context of a diverse social/cultural milieu.

Should have personal attributes that enable them to facilitate effective interpersonal relationships and communicate with colleagues and patients, as well as a wide range of students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Integrative knowledge of EPIC or Titanium medical record systems with the ability to maintain and manage confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA.

Self-motivated, self-directed, highly organized, and detail-oriented.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Employment with the University of Florida is contingent upon the results of a criminal background check.

Knowledge of providing patient care using sound general medical practices.

Skilled in administering intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections

Skilled in administering oxygen

Skilled in administering intravenous medications

Skilled monitoring of intravenous fluids

killed in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Ability to prescribe and administer medications.

Ability to communicate efficiently in writing and verbally

Ability to diagnose patients and provide treatments to patients using guidelines, policies, and procedures.
