Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America’s first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. We are America’s first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. Our renewable energy facility is the largest of its kind in North America and provides clean energy that powers our sugar operations, which helps us reduce our use of fossil fuels. OVERVIEWThe primary responsibility will be to operate tractors, implements, and other farm machinery/equipment safely and effectively. This individual will perform general fieldwork related to our operations and will be required to participate in trainings, workshops and staff meetings related to farm operations.DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Control operations equipment Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly Determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job Operate equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines and irrigation equipment Daily inspection of equipment to make sure it’s working conditions, and notify supervisors in case something is wrong Walk besides or ride on planting machines while in the mechanical planters at specified intervals Adjust farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, using bolts and hand tools Operate equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines and irrigation equipment Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctionWORK EXPERIENCES & REQUIREMENTS Valid driving license Pass a background check Experience of ploughing, drilling, harvesting (including combining), fertilizing (including relevant record keeping) Must be able to work on own initiative and pay attention to detail Knowledge of machines, tools, and relevant equipment Knowledge of processes and procedure in farming Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the farming Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
