The appointment will be at the rank of full Professor, tenured in the Department and based on the Boca Raton campus. The search is open with regards to subfield specialization. Personnel Management: Overseeing department faculty and managing staff, including training and performance reviews. Monitoring teaching and service loads to ensure balance among faculty.
Curriculum and Scheduling: Ensuring curriculum alignment with academic standards and current trends. Managing course scheduling to optimize student learning experiences.
Budget and Resource Management: Managing the department’s budget, allocating resources effectively and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Overseeing department facilities to maintain a safe learning and research environment.
Recruitment and Retention: Leading efforts to recruit talented faculty by fostering an inclusive environment for working and learning. Creating and implementing strategies for enhancing the undergraduate major.
Balanced Advocacy: Overseeing the balance between advocating for the specific needs of the department and the broader interests of the college and university.
Community Outreach: Working collaboratively with the department’s Advisory Board and supporting department and faculty efforts to foster relationships within the community.
Teaching and Research: Teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in line with area of expertise (1:1 teaching load). Mentoring students and maintaining an active research agenda.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field. Evidence of excellence in research and teaching appropriate for appointment as a tenured full Professor in the department. A successful history of administrative leadership and service. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students consistent with the expectations and mission of a research university.
