About the Program and Position:
Our Palm Beach Treatment Family Foster Care (TFFC) Program provides bundled support to youth in foster care in the South Florida region. Our trauma-informed ARC framework includes specialized training for foster parents and a multidisciplinary team that wraps around the youth, family, and permanency resources. This makes a difference because our team approach provides a space for healing while providing skill-building and future-focused planning for youth in our care. We provide support with a multidisciplinary team that includes a Manager, Youth Skills Coach, Foster Parent Recruiter & Licensor, and Clinician.
Cayuga Centers is seeking a Youth Skills Coach to provide support and mentoring to children and adolescents in our Palm Beach Treatment Foster Care (TFFC) program. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, your responsibilities will include meeting with youth one or more times a week to work on skill development, help them succeed at school, and navigate life challenges. The Youth Skills Coach is crucial in making a difference by providing guidance, support, and resources to empower young individuals to achieve their personal goals.
How you get to use your skills…
Provide life skills coaching to youth at least 1 hour per week, one or more times per week, as determined by the team and an assessment of youth need
Conduct life skill development assessments, using approved assessment methods
Following assessment and supporting Treatment Plan goals, create a Life Skills Development Plan and provide psychosocial rehabilitation activities to meet the youth’s needs, as specified by the assessment and Treatment plan, and to support developmentally appropriate functioning of the youth. Provide home, community, and school-based behavioral stabilization/coaching/support as necessary and outlined in Behavior Modification Plans
Consult with the youth’s Treatment Team, participate in supervision and act as a part of the youth’s Treatment Team, whose ultimate goal is to ensure that every one of the placed youth is living in a nurturing, safe, and permanent family as quickly as possible. This individual will also assist with family time/visitation.
Plan, supervise, and document family time that takes place between youth and their families/relatives using the Coaching Family Visits approach. To include supervising, preparing for, and de-briefing family time
Provide transportation for youth as needed
Attend treatment-related meetings such as school meetings, Service Plan Reviews, Clinical Team meetings, etc
Attend required training to enhance skills and knowledge as it pertains to their role as a Youth and Family Skills Coach
Complete and document required credit checks and reviews with youth
Schedule: Non-Exempt
Regular hours entail 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Must be able to flex schedule to meet program needs
Experience and Skills:
High school diploma with a minimum of 2 years experience in mental health, addiction and/or foster care and demonstrated case planning ability require
Bachelor degree preferred
Maintains professionalism in all areas, including confidentiality
Must meet required state certification or other licensing criteria
Valid Florida Driver’s License
Vehicle Required: Must be safe and dependable
Ability to observe a child’s behavior and implement a behavior management program daily
Ability to implement a skills training program
Knowledge of behavior management principles in creating behavior change is desirable
Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of developmentally appropriate behavior for children/adolescents in the home, school, and community
Ability to establish a strong relationship with a child or adolescent
Ability to provide skill-building training to assist a child in the acquisition of new skills
Ability to work cooperatively with Program Manager to implement youth’s program; accept supervision well; be readily available for consultation; attend meetings; complete assigned paperwork
Physical Requirements:
Word processing: Including responding to e-mails, composing letters, completing computerized documentation, transcribing minutes for meetings, etc
Ability to sit at a computer for a minimum of 5- 7 hours a day, depending on program needs
Completing paperwork -Such as copying, stapling
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Sit in and/or drive a vehicle for up to several hours
Walk up/down stairs
