POSITION SUMMARYTo be fullyengaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by assisting pharmacists in obtaining an accurate medication history, allergies, preferred outpatient pharmacy and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.PRIMARYACCOUNTABILITIES
Interviews patients, caregivers, and family members to compile a complete list of current medications, including prescription, non-prescription, investigational medications, and dietary and herbal supplements.
Contacts the patient’s outpatient pharmacy, physician’s office, or other healthcare facilities for patient medication clarifications as needed.
Updates and clarifies the patient’s medication history, allergies, preferred outpatient pharmacy, and primary care provider information.
Upon identification of a medication history discrepancy, alerts the pharmacist/physician and facilitates correction of the medication record with the updated medication list.
Accurately maintains logs, records, and other required documentation. Files documentation in appropriate locations.
Collects data, conducts quality monitors, and completes documentation asassigned.
Onboards andsupports thetraining of newassociates.
Makes workflow adjustments during staffshortages.
Delivers medications and supplies to Pyxis, patient care, ancillary areas as needed. (Emergencies e.g., strokes, trauma, or situations that would result in delay in patient care)
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
o Education:High schooldiploma
o Licensure:Current State of Florida Pharmacy Technician registration or current State of Florida Pharmacy Intern registration required
o Work Experience:5 years of Pharmacy technician experience
o Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Computer skills to support distribution systems required.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS
o Certification:National pharmacy technician certification by the PTCB or ExCPT required. Must obtain within 6 months of employment
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS
Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping
Long periods of computer time or at workstation
Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance
May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise
Communicating with others to exchange information
Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks
Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote
May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle
