Directly responsible for patient care in the Department of Surgical Services, either as a primary care nurse, or with the team members. Will be able to function in all areas of the department. Summary of Duties:
Performs accurate pre-operative assessments on all surgical patients, and makes appropriate plans for the care of those patients. Advises appropriate professional staff (surgeon, anesthesia personnel) when significant conditions warrant additional investigation.
Prepares patients for surgical procedures following established standards of care. Makes ongoing assessments as appropriate.
Performs circulating duties for all specialty services. Performs these duties according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Performs duties as a Post Anesthesia nurse according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Performs as a scrub nurse when required. Is able to function in the central sterile department, processing instruments and equipment. Performs these duties according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Assists the surgeon in the performance of procedures requiring assistance. Performs these duties according to established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Assists the Surgical Supervisor with the correct use, maintenance, charging, and control of supplies and equipment.
Education:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
1 year
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
Current Florida registration to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse
BCLS, ACLS - Required
PALS - Preferred
