An Architectural Designer/Technician will use an architect’s specifications to create detailed drawings for buildings and structures of residential, commercial, hospitality, or institutional projects. They calculate dimensions, describe production methods, and ensure compliance with regulations. Expertise in 3D modeling and math skills are essential.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Uses computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to create full-scale and detailed designs of buildings and interiors from an architect’s rough drawings.
Studies building codes and regulations and determines how they will affect architectural designs.
Organizes/coordinates structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, landscaping, and civil designs if necessary.
Draws plans for foundations, buildings, and structures based on instructions provided by engineers and architects.
Visits jobsites to gather as-built data needed to complete designs.
Works one on one with an architect, project manager, or other office staff member.
Can generate cost estimates, contracts, and other documents required for individual projects, if needed.
Can manage several projects at a time.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Extensive knowledge of CAD, any 2D-3D modeling software and other architectural drafting tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (English required)
Proficient computer skills.
Education and Experience:
One year of related experience required.
Proficient in any CAD drafting software.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites.
