Job description:
Primary functions of the busboy are to serve items such as water, coffee and bread, clean and reset tables, carry dishes and other tableware to the kitchen, replacing linens and making sure the table is clean and ready in a timely manner for the next group. Busser duties also involve restocking supplies, wrapping utensils in napkins, cleaning menus and doing general cleaning.
A valued busser faces challenges with enthusiasm and a passion to do the job well. They know the menu and enjoy finding ways to make guests happy. Along with the host/hostess, servers, bartenders, sommeliers and other front room employees, a busser is part of a team of workers. It is important for a busser to be able to follow instructions, anticipate demands and understand when to fill in for one of the other team members during a busy mealtime.
