We are seeking a caregiver to assist with our elderly parent who has dementia, two nights a week. Our family takes turns providing night care, but we need some relief. The approximate hours are from 9pm to 7am, two times per week.
Her sleep patterns can vary, but you should expect to have to get up 4 to 8 times throughout the night. Most of the time, she only wakes up for a few minutes, needs assistance using the bathroom, and typically falls back asleep afterwards. However, there are occasions when you may need to stay awake and provide companionship for a couple of hours until she falls asleep again.
On average, she sleeps a total of 6 to 7 hours each night, but this is not continuous sleep due to her tendency to wake up at various times throughout the night. We have a motion sensor, so you are able to sleep while she is sleeping. Our hope is that you will get sufficient rest as well, but this cannot be guaranteed.
The patient is calm and gentle, so she is usually easy to care for, but she may sometimes feel disoriented and will need reassurance. Someone with a warm and comforting personality is the ideal fit.
Assistance is needed for two midweek nights or one midweek night and one weekend night. Please let us know your availability. A regular schedule can be established if it works out.
Compensation is $20/hour.
Please let us know a little about yourself, any relevant personal information as well as caregiving experience. Please included easiest way to contact you. Phone numbers are preferred, as we may want to reach out for a phone interview if it feels like a good fit. However, email works too.
Thank you for considering us!
