We are seeking a warm and enthusiastic caregiver to provide some assistance on weekends for a sweet and gentle 80-year-old woman with memory loss due to Alzheimer's.
HOURS
Saturdays: Approximately 6 hours, starting around 9 am.
Sundays: Approximately 4 hours, starting around 12 pm
There is some flexibility in these times. Please let us know your availability. Even if you are only available one day, we may still be able to work something out.
ABOUT OUR LOVED ONE
You will be caring for our dear 80-year-old mother and wife who has Alzheimer's. Despite her memory challenges, she is cheerful and positive, with a friendly and playful disposition.
YOU, THE CAREGIVER
We are looking for a cheerful and warm caregiver who will contribute to a positive and supportive home care environment. Previous caregiving experience is helpful but not essential; we will provide training. Good communication skills are vital for keeping the family informed and being open to feedback and tips on care.
GOOD IF YOU ENJOY THE KITCHEN
Although she is petite, our loved one has a surprisingly voracious appetite. She appreciates food and you can surely gain a way to her heart with tasty meals. Expect to spend time preparing meals and enjoying them together (Note: she likes to sit nearby, but does not partake in preparing). It's a nice way to pass the time, sharing in the preparation and eating experience. Other family members frequently join for meals as well.
NEEDS FREQUENT HELP TOILETING
Due to her condition, she requires frequent trips to the bathroom and assistance with toileting and changing of diapers.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Providing companionship and emotional support
Using sound judgment with an emphasis on safety
Assisting with personal hygiene needs (toileting and showers)
Meal preparation
Light housekeeping and small tasks around the house
Creating a joyful and supportive home care environment
Keeping Mom smiling and out of trouble
